To the Church of Rwanda.

To the angel of the Church in Rwanda,

the sleeping lion, write this:

Thus says the Lord who walks among His churches and rules over every sphere of life:

I know your story.
I know your wounds, your tears, and the weight of memory you still carry.
For too long you have allowed the guilt of yesterday to cloud your sight of My love today.
You have forgotten to meditate on My power—
the same power I displayed through your sons and daughters
when they reconciled enemies, rebuilt ruins, and turned graves into beginnings.

Yet you still speak of yourself as small.
You still see yourself as weak and insignificant.
Though I have sent your children into the nations to do exploits in My name,
you remain unsure of your place, hesitant in your voice.

I know what dwells among you.

I know the leaven of the Pharisees has worked its way into your pulpits—
teachings that reduce My cross to a tool for material gain
and trade eternal glory for temporary applause.
Those who profit from empty words and noisy promises
have been given time, but their day is numbered.
Therefore, cleanse My house.
Cast out what sounds spiritual but bears no weight of truth.

Yet I have this against you:

You have not recognized the authority I placed within you
to shape the loves, imaginations, and values of your people.
You surrendered culture because you thought it was neutral.
You abandoned formation because you thought discipleship ended at the altar.

So your sons look elsewhere for meaning.
Your daughters dance to the rhythms of Babylon
because you failed to teach them the beauty of My order.
Sports, art, education, business, and media
now catechize them more faithfully than you do.

I placed help within your own house—
gifts, talents, intellect, creativity, and courage—
but you searched for saviors beyond your borders.
And while you slept, another voice discipled your children,
capturing their desires and bending them toward purposes not their own.

Wake up.

Remember who you are and where I have planted you.

I did not redeem you merely to gather on Sundays,
but to reveal My glory in every corner of your land.
I did not save souls and abandon culture.
Every square inch of Rwanda belongs to Me,
and I have entrusted its stewardship to you.

Therefore, rise and shape the culture you inhabit.
Teach My truth in classrooms and playing fields.
Display My beauty in music, art, and storytelling.
Practice My justice in leadership, economics, and governance.
Let My lordship be seen in what your people celebrate, consume, and imitate.

Turn the hearts of your sons and daughters back to Me
by forming their loves, not merely correcting their sins.
Disciple the nation, not only individuals.
Stand boldly where attention is captured
and make My kingdom visible where meaning is contested.

He who has ears, let him hear.

The lion is not dead—only sleeping.
Awake, and take your place.

This is truly an amazing truth and pillow that we should swallow hardly but truthfully. We must wake up as a church and do what we are called to by our Lord. God bless you Pastor Samuel for this insight

This reflection is deeply awakening and calls the Church to honest self-examination. It reminds us that we were not redeemed to remain silent or confined to Sunday gatherings, but to shape culture and reveal God’s glory in every sphere of life. May we truly wake up, reclaim our responsibility, and faithfully disciple the nation. Thank you for sharing this powerful and timely message. God bless you.
